The fact is I’m an Evangelist. I serve Christ with the Solid Rock Christian Church in St. James, MO. I have a passion for Ecclesiology (Church organization and mission). Whether I’m a missional minster or not depends on definition. I believe we are on mission to those in our sphere of influence as well as to the world through support of other people on mission to make disciples for Jesus. As to our congregation being in the emerging church movement also depends upon definition. SRCC must continue to understand the culture and many subcultures emerging in our city and surrounding area so we can change methods to reach the community for Christ with His unchanging message.
In actuality, the Solid Rock Christian Church has its heritage in the Restoration Movement. Our doctrines and practices have been chiseled out by many people throughout the years. The primary doctrinal statements have come due to a great desire to restore the present day Church and her mission to Biblical patterns. We are not stubbornly Restoration, but by intention we endeavor to restore Biblical teaching and practice for the present day Christian fellowship.
I intend to keep a running dialogue with this blog. The topics will be primarily Ecclesiological, but will by necessity include other theological categories. I may also post some personal family information as well.
I will be happy to accept your comments. I may or may not respond. Due to time restraints I may elect to let your comment go unanswered, or may answer later than you would have liked. My thoughts are that, mine. I claim no divine inspiration other than the Scripture quoted, and that is all God’s. I am errant, uninspired, and I’m not an authority, but seek only to know God, His Son, and His will for me, my family and His Church.
I hope you enjoy the blog. May it be spiritually stimulating and help all who visit to grow closer to our Lord.

‘Billy: Thanks for sharing this with me. I am also one of those tech idiots, but hope to be able to mark your blog as a favorite. I’ll let you know how it goes. Looking forward to reading your stuff.

HT, you say you are an evangelist…and that it is a fact. Define evangelist and how you know you are one. Are you self-proclaimed or has someone defined you as such? Elgourdo
Elgourdo,
In Acts 20:28 we find the Elders of Ephesus were made overseers by the Holy Spirit. Rather subjective for the Elder, but Paul revealed it to them. My position isn’t Elder/Pastor/Overseer. Yet, from study of the Evangelist Epistles (1&2 Timothy and Titus), the confirmation of our Elders, and by spiritual experience I recognize myself as an Evangelist. Philip started out at a member of the Jerusalem congregation, then a Deacon, and then an Evangelist (Acts 21:8) by the work he did. The work I do is also the work of an Evangelist.

I think that your definition of Solid Rock’s mission is really well stated.
Hill, Thanks for including me on your list. I will see if I have a comment. mocpaw
